Hey Chuck, I'm originally from Arkansas. I devoured Styx albums from Grand Illusion to Paradise Theatre. As a young vocalist in high school, I sang so many in our pop group. As a young person struggling with his sexuality, it's uncanny to think you were living a life where you couldn't be who you really were...like I was. Being a creative saved me then, and it still does, albeit for other reasons, as I came out when I was 22 (1984). Nevertheless, your story is inspiring. Thank you for your honesty, advocacy and, most of all, for your creativity.

Hi Chuck, I am a distant cousin (Granmother is Mary Kemp). I recently saw that Styx would be playing in Phoenix. Would love to see you again. You gave me tickets and backstage passes when you played at Escanaba, Mi. I read that you play once in a while with the band and would love to see you if you are with the band here. Hope this message makes it to you and you are doing well. Brad Kemp

Hi Chuck,I grew up in South Holland Illinois on Maryland Street. Close just a few blocks from your mothers house. Your book brought back memories from my childhood growing up in South Holland IL in the 70's. Wonderful book.

Hello Chuck, I grew up in the 70's and 80's at the height of Styx rise to mega stardom and still have all the record albums I bought at that time ( I still show ofgthe laser etching on Paradise Theater to my friends..lol). Most I have upgraded to CDs I am still trying to figure out how to store digitally on my laptop. I read your story about yourself and felt a connection as you talked about feeling different from other kids. I felt that way growing up as a gay boy. There were not many people back then who could see a gay person as more then a stereotypical caracature created by media representation of what a gay man is. I knew I was not that. I was not feminine at all so disclosure was the only way my secret would be discovered so I spent years fearfully keeping to myself. I was the type of kid who spent most of my home time alone in my room listening to records and daydreaming about a life I imagined where I could be accepted and loved. I was glad to find out you were gay like me and that you were so brave to share some about your experiences. I guess all the time growing up I felt like the only one but you were struggling as I was. It's a totally different world now and being gay is much more tolerated now. Thank God! I was fortunate enough to see Styx at Saratoga Springs (SPAC). Great show. I am from Upstate New York but live outside of Sarasota, Florida now. I hope you continue to stay strong and enjoy yourself. You seem like a kind and down to earth person as well as a talented musician. I wish you the best and thanks for sharing your story.

Your story inspired me to add a comment. My daughter came out as gay a couple years ago. We, her dad and I, have always supported love in its many forms. My wish for her, and you, and all, is to find love that uplifts the soul, that carries her/you/all thru bad days and provides inspiration during the many good days. Thank you for your work on behalf of gay rights. Signed, A Fan of Love in its many Forms

Chuck,
I am sitting here listening to all of my Styx Albums and just smiling because your music is incredible. I listen to the drums and remember your Brother John, one of my favorite drummers of all time, may he rest in forever paradise.
Thank you for this site. There is NO reason whatsoever Styx is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. You are hall of famers in the eyes of your fans.
