  Hi Chuck,
I have been to many STYX concerts, all over the country, over the years. I ordered your book today after reading your story. You are an inspiration. I wish I had a more eloquent way to say that but I am just a simple and direct person. I am awestruck by your openness. Gay Rights have come such a long way since the early 80's (Thank God). One area that has not changed is the treatment of individuals with mental health issues. I wish I could live one day without my diagnosis. I am very well educated and have many accomplishments to date, but none of that matters because society only sees the mental illness. I am unable to work because of the side effects of the medications combined with the illness itself. Going to concerts, especially STYX Concerts, are very uplifting spiritually. Your story has inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian. Animals have always been a source of healing for me, and i just want to be able to give back to them by providing Veterinary care for animals whose owners are not able to afford veterinary care. Between my illness and the side effects of the meds I never thought I could handle Vet School. I am going to give it my best shot. If you could fight through your issues and win then that gives me hope. Thank You So Very Much Chuck Panazzo (nice italian boy).
Best Regards,
Lorie Troiani

Styx was the first rock concert I ever went to in January 1978, in Boise, Idaho. You've done thousands of shows over the decades and I doubt that you ever remember coming there, but I remember - I was in high school at the time and it was a thrill for me to see you guys. It was the Grand Illusion tour where Styx was finally hitting the big time on the national level. I also saw you in Yokohama, Japan in early 1982 on the Paradise Theater tour. By then I was in the U.S. Navy stationed there, and when I saw you were coming, I had to go again.
I say all this as I have gone through many changes in musical taste and consciousness over the years, but have come back to the music of my high school years and earlier, in the '60s, as it brings back memories of a less-complicated time for me - even though it must have been terribly complicated for you, having to live a double life the way you did. I'm sorry the times were what they were that so many people were not accepting, or understanding, that there was no distinction in the love and needs of gay people. The larger society had not grown up yet - but you had to grow up to yourself, without role models or support. I feel now, looking back, I had it easy, as a white, straight male growing up in a fairly whitebread community.
I'm rambling on far too much, and this is your forum, not mine. But I believe you have shown tremendous courage and fortitude over time and I want to salute you for it. I hope you continue to manage your health, especially in the difficult times we live in politically. I retuned to Japan as a civilian almost 20 years ago and live here now but care about what happens in the U.S., all the more so given the reactionary climate
that's still there. I've gone on way too long, but thought I should say - thank you for your example, and your music, over the years.

  Good evening Chuck,

Tonight is the first night I have heard of your challenge and personal flight. I have seen STYX over 30+ times and sorry for my ignorance did not know of your plight!. Now I know.

Chuck, our strength and courage is what will carry you every day and their are so many others to lean on for assistance and strength as many before you have walked this path. After seeing you play with the band, now I know why your presence was missing. OMG for my ignorance.

Chuck, keep your strength, focus and efforts as so many good things are moving forward to help several others in the same space as you. Inspire, speak and lead others with your wisdom and knowledge to battle your personal challenge as this is the REAL LIFE when the other life was thought to be.

Thinking of you oh so differently now everyday. Would love to hear from you (and meet you) every if in Toronto. I have loved STYX forever!

Thoughts of goodness Chuck from Canada!

John King

I am nearly through reading your book, and WOW, it has been amazing to read your story! There are SO many elements of your story, esp. the younger years, that remind me of my younger years, from feeling different than others, to being bullied and such. Reading your story brings memories (and sometimes tears) for sure ... I too went to music (keyboard player) as one of my main outlets in life. So glad to read your story and find out more via your Web Site. A long-time Styx fan, and now even more so a fan of you too, -Jim

  Hi Chuck,

Saw you and the band perform this past Saturday at Choctaw Casino. The performance was phenomenal and took me back to my college days when your music was such a big part of my life. I'm glad you are able to still perform and I was inspired reading your story online. I plan to read your book soon. best of luck in the future!

Dear Chuck Panozzo...it was such a thrilling privilege to see you and the rest pf Styx perform during this past Feb. 18 at Albany's Palace Theatre...I am so grateful that you & the group chose that venue, among the hundreds possible. Meanwhile, I just ordered a copy of your book, and reading its description reminds me of my own 'coming out' during the later 1980s. may you and Styx continue to grace the musical scene for years and years more with your imperishable, inimitable sound!

Hello Chuck. Just finishing your book. Thanks for sharing your personal life with those of us who are fans, musicians and gay men and women. I would love to share some of my story with you, but I don't want to post on FB. We walked a similar path and hope my travels will be of some interest to you. Please contact me via email and I will send my thoughts to you. Thanks again for all of the music and an inspiring book.

I just wanted to say how great it was to see you on stage again. Seeing you play with JY and Tommy brought me back to the days of so many concerts past that I have seen of Styx. You guys are and will always be my favorite band. Keep on Rockin'
