Hi, Chuck. I have just re-read your autobiography and thank you for having the courage to tell your story. Styx will be performing in Las Cruces next Wednesday, Jan. 15, and if you're with the band, I would love to meet you and thank you in person for your book and for all the great music you have given us.

Hi Chuck... I just saw you perform recently with Styx in Washington this passed September. My brother just gave me your book for a birthday present... Although I've known about your sexuality and HIV status for some time now, I am very eager to read your book and get more of the details of your life before and after HIV. I have been HIV+ for over 25 years (I tested poz in 1987). I remember one of the first things that went through my mind after finding out such scary and saddening news: The mind if a very powerful tool, and I am going to use that power to stay alive. It's been a wild ride, and for the most part, not a very easy one... but I'm still here. ...and it was such an inspiration to see you on stage with your band mates again (I also saw you make a cameo at The Gorge in WA several years ago too!)... Keep up the good fight, and the good work, and I will do the same. :-)

Chuck, A friend from the Wild Goose and Hammond Civic Center days(73). Met you at Bloom HS where STYX had played, many of the students had lived at one time in Roseland, they knew you guys as TW4. Had great times at your concerts, thanks for having me always on the guest list. You and John were always wild and crazy in a good way. Friends had asked if I knew you were gay in the early years. I,as many were some what shock, having to hide yourself in an industry were image could make you or destroy your career. Your courage is remarkable for opening up and even more for your story on being HIV. In our life time we learn of a friend or relative(my cousin) who has been contacted with HIV/AID. The best medicine is to be there for them and except their life style. Chuck, enjoy your life and be happy, you are a teacher just teaching a different subject. Hope to see you again someday, Take care

Almost every memory in my life includes Styx playing in the background. My 6yr old son had to play the STYX CD every night at bedtime. He's now 16. I've yet to get him to a live show. I missed the Rock to the Rescue concert sale. My son and I are estranged now. A STYX concert would be great medicine.

Since you know the "twin connection", I thought you would appreciate our story. I wanted to share mine and my twin sisters story of drug addiction and redemption. My twin sister was a meth addict for 10 years. After years of her telling everyone she had it under control, she turned on me, her twin, her closest ally, her best friend! Our connection was severed. Desperately I searched for a way to reach her. In a panic one night I started writing a poem which turned into a song. I had a musician friend help me write the music and put it down on a 4 track, in her bedroom one night. I sent the song with lyrics to her praying this would wake her up!. It did and because I reached out to her, she is clean and sober. She realized she never had it "under control" and it was swallowing her life and her kids lives I wanted to share with you the song that changed all of our lives. Quite possibly it might inspire your audience. I have an amazing band recording it so please listen. The passion is contagious! Thank you for great work out music! Elyse Avella
