Hello Mr. Ponazzo, my brother made me pick a favorite rock band when I was nine years old, however, gave me only two options. He had me listen to Boston's first record & I originally chose them, but he insisted that I had to listen to a sampling of both bands. Upon hearing "Man In The Wilderness," my choice was clear. Anyway, I was just in Chicago on my way back from NYC and thought I saw you in the streets, but the guy who may have been you was all professional looking and I was wondering if you are doing any office work? Also, I left some of my art work at the HI Hostel on Congress Parkway between Clinton & {-? somewhere in the loop?-} I need you to see if they hung them up like they told me they would. Please let me know ASAP! Love always, -ptcm- Jameson Rising, Inc. P.S. On my way in downtown Des Moines to play a little guitar/sing in the streets for the people & will include "Man In The Wilderness." I am still working on learning "Boat On The River," and "The Grove Of Eglantine." God bless you Chuck!!!

Will be attending the July 4 Styx gig at Red, White and Blue Ash in Ohio. Hoped to get my Grand Illusion LP cover signed by you, Tommy Shaw and James Young. The only meet and greet possibilities are through radio station promotions. Is the a way to get the cover signed on Independence Day?

Hi Chuck, I just found out you are a well known rock band player. I'm italian living in China. I was wondering wheather you know the origin of your family in Italy. My family still lives in the north east of Italy on the Veneto region, Vicenza province. Do you know if you come from there? Our surname is not very common so I think we may be related as I saw a photo of your deceased twin brother John and he really looks like my deceased uncle Gino Panozzo. He would be over 80s if still alive. Do you know where you father or grandfather came from exactly in Italy?
I had relatives under the surname of Calgaro in Rockford , IL. I know many Italians from my province emigrated to Chicago. It is very interesting to rejoin with the past and I'm very curious.... Aren't you? 🤗🤗 My best,
Paola Panozzo

Hello Chuck, I have been a huge Styx fan since the song "Lady" was released. For years to see a band like Styx required a 120 mile drive to Atlanta. Finally, Chattanooga built a stadium that although had/has horrible acoustics was big enough for bigger bands to play and I got to see the Mr. Roboto tour. Even with the acoustics I thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was not until I caught a live concert on TV and you came out to play a song that I realized that you had left the band. I noticed the new keyboard player right off. He's kind of hard to miss.lol. I of course had no idea why you left the band. Burnout maybe? Now, after reading your story I know. I first became aware of the horrible disease when we lost Freddy Mercury. I'm thankful that they have made considerable advancements and though you were sick you survived. I know I'm one of a zillion fans but I will be praying for your health and long life. I hope you stay healthy and are able to pursue whatever direction in music and life.
Anyway, it was great to see you onstage even briefly.
I pray God bless and keep you healthy and you find your path.
Thanks for the music,
Sincerely,
Ed

  Hi Chuck,
I have been to many STYX concerts, all over the country, over the years. I ordered your book today after reading your story. You are an inspiration. I wish I had a more eloquent way to say that but I am just a simple and direct person. I am awestruck by your openness. Gay Rights have come such a long way since the early 80's (Thank God). One area that has not changed is the treatment of individuals with mental health issues. I wish I could live one day without my diagnosis. I am very well educated and have many accomplishments to date, but none of that matters because society only sees the mental illness. I am unable to work because of the side effects of the medications combined with the illness itself. Going to concerts, especially STYX Concerts, are very uplifting spiritually. Your story has inspired me to pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian. Animals have always been a source of healing for me, and i just want to be able to give back to them by providing Veterinary care for animals whose owners are not able to afford veterinary care. Between my illness and the side effects of the meds I never thought I could handle Vet School. I am going to give it my best shot. If you could fight through your issues and win then that gives me hope. Thank You So Very Much Chuck Panazzo (nice italian boy).
Best Regards,
Lorie Troiani

Styx was the first rock concert I ever went to in January 1978, in Boise, Idaho. You've done thousands of shows over the decades and I doubt that you ever remember coming there, but I remember - I was in high school at the time and it was a thrill for me to see you guys. It was the Grand Illusion tour where Styx was finally hitting the big time on the national level. I also saw you in Yokohama, Japan in early 1982 on the Paradise Theater tour. By then I was in the U.S. Navy stationed there, and when I saw you were coming, I had to go again.
I say all this as I have gone through many changes in musical taste and consciousness over the years, but have come back to the music of my high school years and earlier, in the '60s, as it brings back memories of a less-complicated time for me - even though it must have been terribly complicated for you, having to live a double life the way you did. I'm sorry the times were what they were that so many people were not accepting, or understanding, that there was no distinction in the love and needs of gay people. The larger society had not grown up yet - but you had to grow up to yourself, without role models or support. I feel now, looking back, I had it easy, as a white, straight male growing up in a fairly whitebread community.
I'm rambling on far too much, and this is your forum, not mine. But I believe you have shown tremendous courage and fortitude over time and I want to salute you for it. I hope you continue to manage your health, especially in the difficult times we live in politically. I retuned to Japan as a civilian almost 20 years ago and live here now but care about what happens in the U.S., all the more so given the reactionary climate
that's still there. I've gone on way too long, but thought I should say - thank you for your example, and your music, over the years.

  Good evening Chuck,

Tonight is the first night I have heard of your challenge and personal flight. I have seen STYX over 30+ times and sorry for my ignorance did not know of your plight!. Now I know.

Chuck, our strength and courage is what will carry you every day and their are so many others to lean on for assistance and strength as many before you have walked this path. After seeing you play with the band, now I know why your presence was missing. OMG for my ignorance.

Chuck, keep your strength, focus and efforts as so many good things are moving forward to help several others in the same space as you. Inspire, speak and lead others with your wisdom and knowledge to battle your personal challenge as this is the REAL LIFE when the other life was thought to be.

Thinking of you oh so differently now everyday. Would love to hear from you (and meet you) every if in Toronto. I have loved STYX forever!

Thoughts of goodness Chuck from Canada!

John King
