Mr. Panozzo......I became infected with HIV and sero-converted in 1990. I became extremely ill, and thought I was going to die....I had to tell my parents, my siblings and friends that I was gay and had HIV at the same time....not exactly a happy time for any of us. I have been extremely fortunate that I have had relatively good health since then(thanks to the medication I take) but also because I was fortunate enough to have family and friends that supported and encouraged me through the roughest parts. It takes a lot of courage for a public figure like yourself to come out and also share their status, and I applaud you for it. I am pleased to hear you are doing so well now, and that you will be able to continue to bring joy to your numerous fans for many years to come. I have always enjoyed the music of Styx, and as any musician knows, the heart of a great band is the rythm section. God Bless.

I have been a follower of Styx since my brother's wedding in Vancouver in 1976 when I was introduced to Equinox. Chuck, you are an inspiration and I wish you the very best in your life.
Our youngest son announced his life choice to us when he turned 18 and his mother and I have been his staunch supporters from the beginning. As with all our children, I just want him to find someone special in his life so he doesn't have to face his life alone. He has the support of his entire family, but everyone should have someone to share their lives with.
With the inspirational support of people such as yourself, the world will have to come to the understanding that everyone is equal.
Thank you Chuck.

I just wanted to say (as I am watching Styx on Youtube) that I find you an inspiration to me. Why? My brother also has AIDS (and was HIV positive around the same time you were pronounced) and to see you both living through it amazing. I remember when AIDS first came around and how little was known about it and how much paranoia was associated with it. That coupled with the homophobia made it a very dangerous time to be an 'outed' homosexual. Living through that time has to have been scary, and I'm just glad that you had the will to see it through and keep performing.

It also forced me to change my views on the world. Honestly, I had no clue what 'gay' was until my brother told me he was one. To me he was still my brother, and even though I am a Christian, I can't and won't accept the views that are promoted by others. Jesus said to 'love one another', and I can't see condemning anyone for their lifestyle 'love'.

Anyhow, sorry for the babbling and my (very late) condolences on the loss of your brother (and your mother, as I have read in your bio just now).

Keep rocking, Chuck. Music is life.

Read your book after it came out and was saddened at how much of yourself was kept hidden for so long. One of my sons has come out; at first my reaction was not one I was proud of. Remembering your story pointed me in the right direction. Thank you.

I too am from Roseland. 117th in Michigan. My dads name is Mark. and my aunt Ruthie owned a bar in Pullman. I cant remember much but my grandmas family also owned Pannozzo funeral home. I am looking for more family history. where my people from. I lost contact with my dad when I was young. Can you help.

Hi Chuck, I hope that this message finds you doing well.
A couple of years ago I stopped in here and mentioned how great an influence you had on my playing, Chuck. I wanted to say thank you again. My 8 year old twin girls are now huge Styx fans - again, thank you.
Anyway, my musical project, HEDDA, has finally released our concept album, "The Storm" which we frequently refer to as "Styx on Steroids". I hope that you'll take a look at and a listen to our new YouTube video; search: HEDDA Thirteen Angels. I'd love to hear your feedback.
I'd be more than pleased to send you a copy of the CD - not for promotion, but simply because you influenced me and "The Grand Illusion" is still my favorite album of all time.
I provided the link to my personal bio page where Chuck Panozzo is named on my short-list of influences.
Take care Chuck.
