  Hi Chuck,

I wish you peace and good health. I have been following Styx since I was in grade school in the early 70's. The song that got my attention was Lady on the school bus radio (northern Indiana).

As a drummer I always admired what your brother did and tried to learn his techniques.

Best wishes in surviving this Illness and what you are doing to help find a cure.

Chuck, I really enjoyed your book although it made me sad to think about how isolated you felt while growing up. But there is something you need to know and maybe you already do: you may have thought you kept your secret from your mother, but let me tell you, as a mom, we know these things about our own children! She was proud of you and your brother, of your success and how you both grew up and became "good people." Your sexual orientation did not matter to her one bit although she was probably fearful of other people harming or making fun of you. Live long and enjoy life Mr. Panozzo! Hugs to you!

Mr. Panozzo......I became infected with HIV and sero-converted in 1990. I became extremely ill, and thought I was going to die....I had to tell my parents, my siblings and friends that I was gay and had HIV at the same time....not exactly a happy time for any of us. I have been extremely fortunate that I have had relatively good health since then(thanks to the medication I take) but also because I was fortunate enough to have family and friends that supported and encouraged me through the roughest parts. It takes a lot of courage for a public figure like yourself to come out and also share their status, and I applaud you for it. I am pleased to hear you are doing so well now, and that you will be able to continue to bring joy to your numerous fans for many years to come. I have always enjoyed the music of Styx, and as any musician knows, the heart of a great band is the rythm section. God Bless.

I have been a follower of Styx since my brother's wedding in Vancouver in 1976 when I was introduced to Equinox. Chuck, you are an inspiration and I wish you the very best in your life.
Our youngest son announced his life choice to us when he turned 18 and his mother and I have been his staunch supporters from the beginning. As with all our children, I just want him to find someone special in his life so he doesn't have to face his life alone. He has the support of his entire family, but everyone should have someone to share their lives with.
With the inspirational support of people such as yourself, the world will have to come to the understanding that everyone is equal.
Thank you Chuck.

I just wanted to say (as I am watching Styx on Youtube) that I find you an inspiration to me. Why? My brother also has AIDS (and was HIV positive around the same time you were pronounced) and to see you both living through it amazing. I remember when AIDS first came around and how little was known about it and how much paranoia was associated with it. That coupled with the homophobia made it a very dangerous time to be an 'outed' homosexual. Living through that time has to have been scary, and I'm just glad that you had the will to see it through and keep performing.

It also forced me to change my views on the world. Honestly, I had no clue what 'gay' was until my brother told me he was one. To me he was still my brother, and even though I am a Christian, I can't and won't accept the views that are promoted by others. Jesus said to 'love one another', and I can't see condemning anyone for their lifestyle 'love'.

Anyhow, sorry for the babbling and my (very late) condolences on the loss of your brother (and your mother, as I have read in your bio just now).

Keep rocking, Chuck. Music is life.

Read your book after it came out and was saddened at how much of yourself was kept hidden for so long. One of my sons has come out; at first my reaction was not one I was proud of. Remembering your story pointed me in the right direction. Thank you.
