  Hey Chuck,
You were awesome when we flew home together on a Southwest Air flight back home to South Florida after a Foreigner show, but we had the chance to talk and meet and then I read your phonemenal book and I just felt so honored that I did have the chance to speak with you more.

My oldest brother just lost his battle with AIDS, yesterday mrng, at 10:30am and passed away in his sleep. He was in his 50's but was diagnosed a very long time ago. It has a been a long hard road for my parents being that my father is a pastor and my mother being a christian woman and not being able to admit to me and others that her son was gay, but I loved him and supported him always and ALWAYS stood by him and made sure he knew that every day of his life. I not only wanted to write to you to think you for the gift of your words in your book, but to help others that are affected by this senseless disease.

Again, your book was beautiful and I thought wow, what a beautiful person not only on the outside, but on the inside as well, thanks so much for sharing it with the world!

I will never forget our meeting together and hope that perhaps if you do read this, you could reach out to me via email, would love to at least keep in touch and have you sign my book. You are an inspiration and I'm sorry my brother didn't or couldn't live out his life as vibrantly as you have had the gift of living it, but I'm so happy that YOU DO!

Please all, say a prayer and light a life candle in remembrance and in my brother's name, Joseph Mark Matthews, may he be in peace and in no more pain and suffering,

love and hugs, his loving sister, Virginia Matthews.

**Btw, we met in South Florida a couple of years back when you were flying back from Tampa from a Foreigner/Def Leppard show. I was the asian girl that you had met talking in the waiting area. I was living in Sunrise at the time, but I've since moved to bigger and better places, in Sunny Southern Orange County in ...

Hey Chuck. Two weeks ago I listened to the Styx live album Caught In The Act. It was such a great experience and I got to listen to Styx playing a show in their successful years. I felt like I was there at the show with your cousin Bob. I feel bad that the album doesn't include Renegade, which has the drum solo by your brother John. Keep the bass rocking.

Chuck, I just began to read your story. You have already softened my heart. You have always been my favorite member of STYX ever since I first say you perform when I was about 18, at St Joseph's College in Rensselaer IN back in 1974-5. I remember I sat on the floor right in front of you. I think the song was Father O.S.A. Everything was dark and they put a strobe light on you as you played your bass and slowly rocked back and forth it was a great effect. I remember you were wearing a shirt with really wide white stripes like a sailor or pirate. It was very cool. God Bless You

I just finished reading your book and it really hit home. I lost an uncle to the virus when I was young and it took him from us within months, this was back in 96. Reading what you've gone through truly made me see what he had to go through. Thank you for that and keep doing what you're doing :)

  Hi Chuck,
I am so thrilled for you! Your bravery is so admirable and to be commended! I am a huge fan and just learned that my own son is gay. I am working on a confidential project and would love nothing more than to have the opportunity to speak with you about it. I believe that I have something that could make a significant impact on both the straight & LGBT community. I look forward to hearing from you!
Best Regards

  Hi Chuck,

just wanted to say thank you for providing what most will agree, a soundtrack of our lives. I also applaud your courageous struggle with your illness, God Bless you! I first saw styx in 1983, and it was a revelation, showmanship as well as first rate musicians, around that time I had picked up the guitar, I was just a kid, and long story short, you fueled my desire to be a musician. I hope more than anything else, that makes you proud, I am proud of you, your advacocy, but just know again, your musicianship literally changed lives, mine included. I listen to Aku, wonderful Coda, yet probably the best bass playing ever! again God bless and thank you!

Hi Chuck. I don't know if you actually get to read these comments or not, if you do I hope you get comfort from all the support posted here. I was a STYX fan many many years ago, I saw you a couple of times in my youth, one at the Hammersmith Odeon in London and once at Wembley Arena. Over the years I kinda lost touch with Styx and music in general as bringing up my family and work took over and consumed my life. Now i'm starting to take things easier I find I have more time on my hands and I have started to get back into music again Last night, just out of the blue, My son started singing Mt Roboto! I never even realised he had heard of it let alone know the lyrics. A flood of memories came back of how I loved Styx Music. I asked him how he knew the song and I was amazed ti find out he has a whole collection of Styx on his iPod. finding out prompted me to research what you are all up to now. I was really saddened to hear about your brother and your HIV condition so I wanted you to know that the incredible music you created together will live on reaching generation after generation. I wish you (and all Styx band members) well. I really hope that all of the remaining 'classic' line up can settle any differences and perform together again one day… Lifes just too short! all the best.
