just finished your book. having grown up with styx it filled in the blanks and rounded out the story for me. as a drummer growing up your brother was my hero. the courage you now show puts you in that position. i know thats not what you are looking for but hopefully gay or straight we can all step up and fight hiv and our own bias' together.

Chuck I cannot even begin to express the accolades that should come your way in your efforts to help fight a horrible disease. I saw you and the rest of your band mates in Providence R.I. last night and thought you looked great, keep up the efforts. Godspeed

Chuck,
I'm a high school student and vice-president of my school's Gay Straight Alliance. I kind of wandered onto this site looking for singer/musician's songs and biographies for our club's upcoming gay awareness week. I just want you to know that after reading through your site that I think what you've said and trying to do is the best message anyone can give to gay and straight students. I hope my gay classmates can find the inner freedom you talked about and my straight classmates find it in their hearts to accept them as they are. This is great work!

Chuck, I tried sending you an e-mail but your site is not letting me do so.
I just finished your book and I couldn't believe how similiarly we were raised. South side Catholic, first generation Italian, musician, etc.
I saw Styx in 1974 at Quigley South H.S, remember? I also took guitar lessons from JC, God rest his soul. Back in the day, he told me a story about Dennis DeYoung demanding him to write an interlude to Suite Madamn Blue the night before you recorded it at Paragon which resulted in Prelude 12. He taught me that beautiful piece.
Anyway I have much to talk to you about and would love to exchage e-mails if you are able to.
Hope to talk to you soon.

Chuck -
I just wanted to say that I appreciate you putting your story out there for everyone to read. I find you to be very inspiring and your words hit home for me. While music is my first love; I am currently in a job where I'm unable to disclose, nor able to be asked, about my personal life. After reading your story, I realized that so many people have been in that position one way or another... and many succeed and thrive just as you have. You led the way... thanks.
Jackie
P.S. I don't know why you'd want to leave Chicago for Florida... I can't wait to get back home. :)

Hi Chuck. My initials are DV, I am your stage manager's wife, you know that crazy guy! We were all in Aruba together. I just finished your book and it was a fascinating read. You've been my favorite member of the band since we first met, and the same holds true today. Thank you for sharing your story. You're a beautiful human being. Take care and God Bless.

Hi, Chuck:
It's that cute little asian girl that couldn't stay away in Tampa and again on our shared Ft. Lauderdale flight, we kept running into each other.
Chuck, I got your book just as I promised you that I would and haven't put it down since I recieved it in the mail yesterday. I'm almost done with it, believe it or not, I've read it almost straight from page to page with ONE break. Chuck, I had no idea that you have come through so much and had all that wisdom that you were speaking behind when we spoke briefly for only those couple of minutes, but I truly can understand the meaning of courage and being brave and that's YOU after reading your words in the book!
Just like the various beautiful people that came into your life, I truly believe that it was no mistake in life that you were sitting there at that precise time and we were destined to talk about and share your life w/me that day and I was destined to pick up your book in turn and it would change my outlook on the world.
There's so many petty things in the world that we worry about and silly feelings of jealousy, envy, etc. that come about in our every day lives that after reading your book, just doesn't seem that important anymore in the grand scheme of things. A statement that you kept reflecting again and again in your book.
Thank YOU so much for giving that gift of wisdom and love to me from the words of your book and the opportunity to sit with you for that short moment to talk, I so see things in such a different light and perhaps it will make me braver to face my own challenges in my family and life, as we talked about. I have to say that I would love to be able to be brave and hand over your book to a certain loved one in my family, but I guess I'm not the only one in some sort of denial and finds it hard to have the courage. I know he would find alot of inspiration in your words (anyway, you know what I'm talking about)..
I would still love for you to sign ...

Chuck, I was just watching the STYX and the CYO of Cleveland concert and decided to surf the internet on members of the band. You looked great during that show, and I had no idea of all the pain and suffering that you were going thru. I applaud you for all of your efforts and I hope that someday their will be a cure for this stupid disease and you will once again be free of it. God bless you, and please get well. Styx needs you!!
